United Way MV Announces Annual Strategic Investments

Supporting Programs and Initiatives in Health, Education, and Financial Stability

UTICA, N.Y. – United Way of the Mohawk Valley’s (United Way MV) Board of Directors has approved the organization’s 2023-2025 strategic investments to provide vital funding to 34 programs operated by 27 non-profit agencies throughout Herkimer and Oneida counties.

Every 1-2 years United Way MV staff and their Strategic Investment Committee are charged with stewarding the funds entrusted to the organization from local donors. It is their job to ensure that funds are invested into outcome-driven programs that positively impact the community. Through a thorough application and review process, program proposals are considered based on community need, and effectiveness and measurable outcomes of the program.

Programs that are eligible for funding fall under one of three focus areas: health, education, and financial stability.

“The programs that we invest in demonstrate positive impact. We are eager to support partners in the community who are focused on outcomes and innovation,” said Matthew Nicholl, United Way MV Board President. “United Way MV is committed to moving the needle by convening partners, connecting resources, and approaching problem-solving proactively.”

Through the organization’s strategic investments, United Way MV and their funded partners provide vital services, bridge gaps, and open opportunities to help the Mohawk Valley thrive. The organization is committed to leading their additional initiatives where there is a high community need including 211, Ride United, Childcare, and Housing and Homelessness.

United Way of the Mohawk Valley has served Herkimer and Oneida counties for 102 years. United Way MV is committed to finding solutions by convening and supporting programs in both Herkimer and Oneida counties.
