This event is in March around International Women's Day, celebrating the women in our community while focusing on healthy living. This event is a chance to connect with other women who want to enact real change here in our community. We bring together women-owned or run businesses right into the event as they offer free samples and trials of health focuses services and products that you can purchase right there! Enjoy a delicious and health-conscious dinner, and easy-to-do activities that empower a healthy lifestyle for women.

For this annual day of volunteering, United Way brings people together to help make an impact in our local neighborhoods. Many companies allow employees to utilize work time to volunteer with United Way MV and make a difference in the community that supports their local business. Each year, United Way identifies a service project based on community needs. In the past, we have painted over graffiti, painted murals in local parks, packed hundreds of thousands of meals for local food pantries, and created educational activity stations in local parks and trails with our Born Learning trail kits.

For several years, United Way and the Boilermaker Road Race partner for our annual pasta buffet. Volunteers organize this event as part of the Boilermaker Road Race Expo, which takes place the Saturday before the big race. This event offers runners, and their families, an assortment of pasta dishes and sides, while the proceeds benefit United Way MV. Our Emerging Leaders United volunteers join in to assist with the event and greet guests. Whether you are running the Boilermaker Road Race, or not, you can help support United Way just by eating some yummy pasta!

This event is a short (and we mean really short) run that begins in the back of Saranac Brewery and ends in their courtyard. "Runners will get free early entrance to Saranac's "Octoberfest" and their first drink free. Only .33 miles, less than 2,000 feet, almost 6 football fields, however you cut it, it's short so no need to be an avid runner.

We had to cancel this event for 2020, but we plan to see you all in 2021!

A unique partnership formed in 1998 between United Way MV and its long-standing supportive community partner F.X. Matt Brewery, which hosts a weekly happy hour fundraiser and concert event throughout the summer. United Way coordinates groups of volunteers from local companies to assist with serving refreshments at Saranac Thursdays and Concert Series events. This volunteer opportunity requires groups to complete an application and selection process due to the high volume of interested groups/individuals and limited volunteer slots. Sign up for our newsletter to be alerted when volunteering applications open.

For more information about the Saranac Thursday selection process, please contact Kristyn Bucciero Beckwith at or click here.
