Sixth Annual Live United Hockey Night

The sixth annual Live United Hockey Night was held Saturday night at the Utica Memorial Auditorium in support of United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area. The evening’s action-packed men’s hockey game featured the Utica College Pioneers and visiting Manhattanville College Valiants.

United Way was proud to be represented by Tim Reed, United Way Interim Executive Director, Dr. Cathleen McColgin, United Way Board President, and two of the evening’s sponsors, Norma Chrisman of Central New York Labor Council AFL-CIO and Mohawk Valley Community College Professional Association, and Jeanette St. Mary of New York State Public Employees Federation, performed the ceremonial puck drop.

"Live United Hockey Night provides United Way an excellent opportunity to engage Utica College Pioneer fans and share all the work being done in the Valley and Greater Utica Area,” said Dr. Cathleen McColgin, United Way Board President. “We'd like to thank our sponsors, the Pioneers, and Utica College for the commitment to our community through their support of United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area. It takes partnerships like these, working together to build a stronger community and create a brighter future."

Live United Hockey Night celebrates United Way’s mission of promoting individual well being, strengthening families, and improving the quality of lives in the Valley and Greater Utica Area – in a fun, community environment. Utica College fans spotted wearing Live United shirts had the chance to participate in games and win prizes.

In a statement, Jeanette St. Mary, Region 6 Coordinator of State Public Employees Federation said, “We are proud to be co-sponsor of this year’s Live United Hockey Night with our fellow brothers and sisters of CNY Labor Council. We are proud to be unionists, proud to be region 6, and proud to be PEF!  Let's go UC!!!”
