United Way of the Mohawk Valley has launched a unique food give away series for City of Utica residents. Our Take and Make meal boxes will be given away through three distribution days, each handing out 1,500 meal boxes!
What's in the box?
These unique meal boxes include ingredients to prepare 5 meals for a family of 5 with corresponding step-by-step recipes cards. United Way has partnered with Casa Imports and Karam Produce, allowing families to expect fresh produce, meat, and other ingredients as part of their meal boxes.
How do I receive a meal box?
The next meal box distribution details and registration will be announced soon. To make sure you don't miss the announcement sign up for our email newsletter here.
United Way’s Take and Make meal boxes will be available to City of Utica residents by reservation.
Each distribution will be a drive or walk through style pick-up. When you reserve your free meal box you be able to choose a time slot and location to get your meal box.
Where and when are the distributions?
There will be three total distributions throughout the City of Utica, including one in East Utica, North Utica, and West Utica. Exact locations will be shared upon reservation. Upon reservation, residents will choose a time slot for their pick-up.
The first distribution was on October 25, 2020. The second and third distribution dates have not yet been announced.

Each distribution is only possible with the help of volunteers! Our last distribution brought more than 70 volunteers together over a three-day event assisting us with packing the distributing meal boxes.
Volunteers will be needed to help with pre-event needs such as packing meal boxes, and distribution day set up, check-in, box handout, and more. Different days, tasks, and time slot details will be listed on United Way’s Volunteers United online platform.
